We offer a Special Education program for students with a variety of learning challenges, including learning disabilities. The Special Education teacher provides individual programming for each student so that their individual needs are met. We recognize that each student has unique abilities and learning styles. As a result, there is a high degree of accommodation and/or modification to the regular program so that students can achieve success. Our goal is to help them gain self-confidence and to challenge them to do their best.

Our Special Education program features individualized instruction with a pupil teacher ratio of 8 to 1.
We emphasize the core subjects and basic skills in language arts and math, as well as providing a balanced curriculum in all subject areas including physical education, science, social science, art, music, drama and technology.
This class is not a behavioural class and students with major behavioural concerns will not be accepted into the program. The program focuses on academic success and meeting social and organizational needs.
An Individualized Education Plan is developed which describes the program required by each student, based on a thorough assessment of the student’s strengths and needs that affect his/her ability to learn.
AEA (Additional Educational Assistance)
For those students who are generally at ease (learning adequately) in the regular classroom setting, but would benefit from additional assistance, MGA provides an AEA program. As part of the AEA program, a student will work with the teacher to strengthen skills or areas of need that cannot be addressed sufficiently in the regular classroom.
